About Nightsec Stream

We build the unglamorous, reliable plumbing behind video playback so product teams can ship a player and move on.

Nightsec Stream began in 2023 as an internal tool for distributing training footage across unreliable networks. The segmented, adaptive approach we built to survive those conditions turned out to be broadly useful, so we opened it up.

How delivery works

When you upload a master file we transcode it into a ladder of bitrates and cut each rendition into short segments. A playlist manifest ties them together. The player fetches the manifest, then pulls segments one at a time, stepping up or down the ladder based on the throughput it measures. Because each segment is an ordinary cacheable HTTP object, edge nodes serve popular content without touching origin.

Where we run

Delivery happens from 38 edge regions. Origin storage is replicated across three availability zones, and we publish uptime and incident history openly.
